it’s weird how people will try and talk about transess in regards to people like Marsha and be like “oh well they called themselves gay so they were just gay men” when like…if you knew anything about that era and how transness was navigated then, you would know that gay was a catch all term for relatively any deviation from the gender and sexual norm. There have been multiple trans women from that era that have explicitly said that they didn’t have the same terminology as we do now so they just called themselves gay because that’s what they knew. that’s a part of the reason why the term “gay rights” has been the go to phrase when talking about any sort of movement that includes the entire community. but y'all don’t ever crack open a book and get some sort of satisfaction from talk out your neck and ass simultaneously so.

You were so exciting, so wrong for me. You had already given up on caring about everything and the thought of being that reckless drew me into you like a pen to page. I wanted you to colour me different. I thought being with you would make me brighter but all you knew was darkness, so our days grew so black that most of the time we couldn’t see. We couldn’t see how we were hurting people, we couldn’t see how we were hurting ourselves. So we fumbled around in the dark, knocking everything over and laughing as we did it, unaware of the mess we would find when the lights came back on.
